      WORKSHOP: Monotype

The Trace Monotype method (or Direct Trace Method) is a technique where the artist rolls ink onto a smooth surface, lays paper onto the ink, and draws on the back of the paper, resulting in sketchy line work on the front.  Perfect for beginners, this rudimentary printmaking process allows for fine, direct mark making with little to no experience needed. Instructor: Maranda Allbritten Non-members: $15 (plus $10 supply fee) Free for U-CA Co-Op Members (plus $10 supply fee) To learn more or purchase a Co-Op membership, stop by The Union or click HEREThe Union is committed to making the arts accessible: if you are unable to pay membership fee, we offer sliding-scale options. Young artists ages 5-15 are invited to participate in self-directed studio time from 4-8pm. Come paint, draw, read, play games, or do homework in a fun environment. Participants can create projects inspired by our exhibitions with guidance from staff who will introduce a new project each week. Cost is FREE and no advanced sign up is required. Participation is capped at 15, on a first-come-first served basis.   Youth Open Studios was established to reduce barriers to participation in our Thursday Co-Op workshops for adults, creating an opportunity for young people to engage in hands-on art-making while their parents or guardians do the same.
