Ni-Bthaska-Ke is the Omaha Tribe name for the Platte River, which means flat water. The water may be flat, but the trails here aren't.

The 12K is mostly single-track, scenic, hilly, and ruggedly challenging. It is known as the toughest trail run in the Midwest. It will leave you breathless, but hopefully not broken. It involves a narrow trail, steep climbs and decents, a daring creek crossing, and a stretch along some barbwire. You have been warned.

The 4 Mile is a completely different course. It involves some creek crossings and big hills, a little mix of cross country running throughout the park, but also very beautiful and challenging. It is not as treacherous, and provides a great trail running experience.
